Community Integrated Living Arrangement (CILA) homes offer more than care. They provide stability, community, and pride.

At Clearbrook, over 260 residents live in 59 CILA homes designed for safety, comfort, and independence. Each home is staffed by trained caregivers and designed to meet specialized accessibility and safety standards — an investment that ensures comfort and independence for decades to come.

More than 150 individuals are waiting for a Clearbrook home like this, and with the uncertainty in government funding, your gift ensures these homes remain places where individuals can live, grow, and belong.

Thanks to the generosity of Clearbrook donors, the first $100,000 in year-end donations will be matched.

FURNISHING THE HOME

Working, Independence, and Pride

Kevin was an award-winning gymnast in high school, so it’s no surprise he enjoys staying involved through his job with the Mundelein Park District. The extra income gives him the opportunity to personalize his space, and he takes great pride in purchasing things for his room.

Although CILA life is still new for Kevin, he’s embracing his independence.

“Since moving here, I’ve really felt like I have all my freedoms,” Kevin shared. “I talk to my parents every morning and every night and it just feels good.”

His growing confidence and connection to both his family and his new home are clear signs that he’s thriving.

Life at the Princeton CILA: A Family, A Home

The guys at the Princeton CILA often joke that their house feels like a frat house, an environment full of laughter, energy, and fun.

They’ve formed close friendships, spending their days shopping at Walmart, swimming at the local pool, and hosting BBQs. “They call each other family and they really look out for each other,” says staff member Susie. “They argue like brothers sometimes, but they always make up.”

Matt takes great pride in his vegetable garden. Bryan loves to joke around. Will affectionally describes his life in the CILA as "living la vida loca" - living the crazy, fun life.

“This house is very active,” adds Susie. “They’re very independent and they love their home.” Together, they’ve built an environment where family, respect, and laughter are always part of their day.
