Community mental health center (cmhc)

The CMHC program is licensed through the Illinois Bureau of Accreditation, Licensure and Certification (BALC) and is funded through the Illinois Department of Mental Health.

The CMHC accepts private BlueCross and all Medicaid, Medicaid MCOs. The Admissions Department will assist in verifying that we take the individual's insurance.

The referral can come from a variety of sources. The Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) would contact the individual or guardian depending on the type of referral. 

The priority of the first appointment is to assess the risk and therapeutic needs of the client. A personalized treatment plan is developed with the individual.

Sessions can take place onsite at the CMHC office, over the phone, or via video chat. The frequency of sessions depends on the client’s need: daily, weekly, or monthly.

Various methods are used based on the needs of the individual. Clients are involved in the decision-making of which methods are used in therapy. There are three systems for session settings: individual-based, group-based, or family-based. The skillset of the clinic is person-centered and allows for solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral, and dialectical-behavioral therapy. Art therapy has also become a popular therapeutic option at the CMHC.
